Latest Update On Former WWE Tag Team Coming To AEW

The former legendary WWE tag team previously known as “The New Day”, consisting of Kofi and Austin Creed, were released of their contracts back on May 2^nd. Which means that their 90-day non-compete clause ended at the beginning of this month in August, which was right around the time they released an animated video representing their freedom from the WWE. And now that they are officially “free agents”, what does the future hold for the former pancake-throwing, horn-tooting duo?

For some time now it’s been rumored that those inside AEW have been strongly pushing for Tony Khan to bring the team into the company. And now it looks like it may very well happen.

AEW’s premiere PPV, “All In: London” takes place this Sunday, August 30^th, 2026, at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London, England. During the pre-show media call it was announced that the Buy-In Pre-Show will feature the AEW World Trios reigning champions: “Hangman” Adam Page, Brody King, and Bandido (collectively referred to as Brodido), defending their titles in a massive seven-team gauntlet-style match until only one trio remains. The confirmed other six teams include:

• The Bang Bang Gang (Jay White, Juice Robinson & Austin/Colten Gunn)
• The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly & Mark Briscoe)
• The Death Riders (any three of Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli, Pac, and Daniel Garcia)
• The Dogs (Gabe Kidd, Clark Connors & David Finlay)
• The Demand (Ricochet, Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun)

The final seventh spot in the match is the “Joker” Wild Card team. On a recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Swerve Strickland directly confronted the current trios champions. Ricochet explicitly told Strickland that if he wanted to stick his nose into the trios division, he was going to need to find two partners for himself. Tony Khan has since revealed that he is actively scouting across the wrestling world to finalize this Wild Card entrant, which will only be revealed live during the match at Wembley Stadium. Inserting Strickland into this match not only allows AEW to naturally extend his bitter, long-running rivalry with “Hangman” Adam Page but also having there be a Wild Card team adds fuel to the fiery rumors as to who might be coming to his aid.

WrestleVotes on Fightful Select spoke with their sources and, even though there is no stamped confirmation of it happening, two different sources relayed the feeling internally that Kofi and Creed are definitely AEW-bound and are expecting them to make their AEW debuts at “All In: London” on August 30^th.
