Former WWE Tag Team Releases New Video Regarding Their Free Agency

Published on

The group of Kofi and Austin Creed (formerly Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of The New Day in WWE) were previously released approximately May 2nd of this year when they were released for declining to agree to a new restructured contract that cut their pay. If that date is indeed the case, then this Friday, July 31st, would be the date they officially become free agents on the market.

As speculation looms over an update of their current status, Kofi and Creed have finally resurfaced on their Instagram account with a new animated short video, directed and created in collaboration with graphic artist and gear designer Jonathan Davenport, entitled “Daybreak”:

The animated video contains heavy metaphors and symbolism regarding the two wrestlers’ previous tenure and their potential current status. A description is as follows:

It begins with a scene inside of a circus ring tent where an evil ringmaster (Triple H?)…

has two unicorns chained in a stable (symbolizing Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods with their New Day unicorn horns)…

The unicorns suddenly break free of their chains, running towards the locked exit of the circus….

Just before they reach the exit, they pass by a third larger unicorn with a broken horn locked in a stable (symbolizing former New Day member Big E who is still under contract with WWE as an analyst). The third unicorn gives them a nod as they run by, the first two returning the gesture…

The two unicorns then build up their power and presumably break down the locked door to the circus…

We next see the hole in the door to the circus (symbolizing they’ve obtained their freedom) and hoofprints on the ground leading out. The silhouettes of Kofi and Creed are then seen walking towards the sunrise/sunset…

with the broken-off unicorn horns on the ground behind them (symbolizing them leaving The New Day behind them)…

While the video did not make it clear what the next step in the careers for Kofi and Creed will be, it has been heavily rumored in multiple reports that those inside AEW have been pushing for Tony Khan to bring them into the company. Obviously, we won’t be seeing any unicorn horns anytime soon. But if these heavy rumors come true, one can expect a jolt of excitement in the tag team division in AEW sometime very soon.
