The ECW legend Tommy Dreamer has confirmed he has mutually left TNA in an emotional report
At reported previously, a “workforce reduction” has been happening backstage in TNA throughout this month of June. And now, as of June 17th, we must add one more name who has mutually parted ways with TNA: the ECW legend and hardcore Hall of Famer, Tommy Dreamer.
In an emotional SiriusXM Busted Open Radio podcast that took place the morning of June 17th, Tommy Dreamer confirmed that he and TNA have mutually parted ways, being released from his Head of Creative and Talent Relations position. Through tears, he stated he always loved going to work as TNA and wrestling got him through his toughest times: from when his mom died to when the Covid pandemic occurred. He said it’ll be hard, but he has no ill feelings towards TNA. He ended up thanking Anthem, TNA and all the real wrestling fans for their support. TNA’s parent company, Anthem Sports & Entertainment, also released the following statement on June 17th, 2026:
“TNA Wrestling today announced a workforce reduction, designed to streamline operations and sharpen strategic focus and profitability.
TNA’s creative leadership team will see an immediate shift. Tommy Dreamer, who has worked in TNA’s Creative and Talent Relations Departments, is leaving the company as TNA and Dreamer mutually agreed to part ways.
TNA Wrestling also has come to terms on the release of Tessa Blanchard.
We wish Tessa, Tommy and others the best in their future endeavors.“
This all comes off the heels of a behind-the-scenes roster shake-up that began earlier this month with Steve Maclin, Myla Grace, and more recently, Tessa Blanchard all requesting their releases. Then, on June 17th, Sami Callihan was let go.
Tommy Dreamer originally debuted for TNA in June of 2010 and held several key on-screen and backstage position off and on. As an active wrestler and talent in his initial 2010 run, he debuted as part of the ECW-inspired EV 2.0 stable, but then left in June 2011 after losing a match.
Dreamer made his return in January 2013 as a groomsman for Bully Ray’s on-screen wedding to Brooke Hogan. From there he wrestled sporatically, leading a new wave of hardcore originals against Dixie Carter’s “Team Dixie” heel stable. In 2015, he made one final appearance, representing TNA in an invasion storyline against Jeff Jarrett’s “GFW” Global Force Wrestling.
Dreamer returned for a third time on-screen in 2018 to support Eddie Edwards and Moose against the violent stable of “oVe” Ohio Versus Everything. Years later, Dreamer engaged in a deeply personal storyline with longtime rival Bully Ray. It was after that feud in 2023 he finally held championship status, winning the TNA Digital Media Championship at Victory Road 2023 by defeating Kenny King. He used his title defenses to put up the younger talent before dropping the belt to Crazzy Steve in early 2024 at Hard To Kill. He wrestled sporadically up until his departure.
Backstage, Tommy Dreamer served as a member of the creative team in his early years, being the Executive Producer of the ECW-reunion pay-per-view, Hardcore Justice in 2010. Dreamer frequently worked as a backstage producer, constructing the matches and helping guide the younger talent. Dreamer took over as Head of Creative and Lead Booker in early 2024 following the departure of Scott D’Amore. However, according to a report from Fightful Select, several TNA stars had been expressing concerns about Dreamer’s creative ideas in recent years, although he was generally liked by many within the organization. The report also mentioned that TNA President Carlos Silva spoke with Dreamer on Tuesday, June 16th, which came just before his mutual departure.
To update what’s next for TNA’s creative team, PWInsider reports that “Delirious” Hunter Johnston is expected to assume the role as temporary “point person” on the creative team for the time being. As far as a more permanent solution, Fightful Select reports rumors have emerged that former WWE creative writer “Road Dogg” Brian James, who left his former position back in March, is the leading candidate the company might choose. There is also the possibility that the company will bring in more names at a later time.
Stay tuned to the BLVD where we will SLAM any updates to these stories as they come.
Alongside everyone, we wish all those released, including the legendary Tommy Dreamer, the very best in their future endeavors.
