THE RAW REPORT SLAM for June 1st from the Inalpi Arena in Turin Italy
The RAWReport Slam!
THE ONLY BLVD WHERE WE GO INTERNATIONAL
After Clash in Italy on Sunday, WWE is sticking around in Turin, Italy. So WWE Monday Night RAW is taking place at the same Inalpi Arena. It took them twenty years to bring RAW back to Italy, so let’s hop on the BLVD for the RAW Report Slam for June 1st and see what Sunday’s fallout has in store.
We begin with the typical “Then, Now, Forever, Together” intro. Michael Cole is our play-by-play and Corey Graves is on color commentary.
We begin with a nice video package of what happened on Sunday at Clash in Italy. We then cut what seems to be live as Roman Reigns and Jimmy/Jey Uso get out of their car and head to the ring as the fans go nuts for their Tribal Chief.
Eventually, Reigns and The Usos make their way out down the ramp and into the ring. It took a while to start the promo as the fans were going wild and chanting “Roman, Roman Reigns!” Reigns begins the promo and asks Turin to acknowledge him. Reigns says there is no day like acknowledgement day. Jey gets on the mic says Jacob Fatu is already late for his first day on the job. Fatu’s music hits as he comes out to the ring in black dress clothes instead of one of his tees.
Fatu said at Tribal Combat he knew what he was getting himself into and he knew the consequences. Fatu says he knew what would have happened if he was champion after last night and he knew what would happen if he lost. Losing is something he’s done his whole life. Fatu says last night he lost in front of the whole world and, in front of his children, they all saw a man keep his word. Fatu says last night he lost to his tribal chief. He then gets in Jey’s face and yells he didn’t lose to Jey’s punk ass. Fatu acknowledges Reigns and bends his knee. Reigns takes Fatu’s hand and helps him back up to his feet. Reigns tells Fatu he loves him. Then Jimmy says it’s on now and this is a warning shot to the locker room because they the twos and “We – The – Ones!” Everyone, including Fatu, throws their ones into the air.
The Men’s King of The Ring tourney brackets are shown as The IC Champion Penta made his entrance for the first qualifying match. The entrances of Carmelo Hayes, Solo Sikoa, and then Oba Femi are shown.
Here’s the Men’s King Of The Ring bracket:
King of the Ring Qualifying Match: Penta vs Oba Femi vs Solo Sikoa (w/Talla Tonga) vs Carmelo Hayes
The match starts with Femi being mugged by the other three guys. But Femi fought back and knocked everyone down. Tons of back-and-forth action inside and outside of the ring. The finish came when Femi decided it’s time to take everyone out one by one. Femi launched Solo across the ring and hit the Fall from Grace on Solo for the win.
WINNER: Oba Femi (12 minutes) ANALYSIS: *** ¾ by TJR
Said to be a very exciting fatal four-way match that was action-packed in the ring and out throughout. Penta, Solo, and Carmello did a good job. But this was all about keeping Femi dominant even after his loss to Lesnar last night.
The “W” means that Femi will face the winner of the Dominik Mysterio vs Bron Breakker vs Trick Williams vs Damian Priest in the semi-finals.
After the match, Femi did a promo saying he’s still standing after taking Lesnar’s best shot. Femi claimed he’s going to be King of the Ring. He also told Lesnar that it’s 1-1, so he’ll see Lesnar down the line.
ANALYSIS: I like Femi’s promos and I could see Femi as KOTR. But I would predict Lesnar getting involved, preventing him from that to set up their best of three match.
A video aired showcasing the Seth Rollins vs Bron Breakker main event match for tonight. Then the new Women’s IC Champion, Sol Ruca, is shown walking to the ring for an interview. In the background, we see Austin Theory talking to Maxxine Dupri.
Back from a commercial break, Cathy Kelley is in the ring introducing Sol Ruca who beat Becky Lynch last night at Clash in Italy to become the new Women’s Intercontinental Champion. Ruca makes her way out to the ring and Kelley gives Ruca a mic. Kelley asks Ruca if she thought she’d be a champ so quickly. Ruca says this is a dream come true and she believed in herself, as did all the fans. It was tough beating Lynch and Ruca intends to be a fighting champion and says she shouldn’t be underestimated. Fireworks explode as Ruca held up her IC title.
ANALYSIS: Just a quick babyface promo to have main roster newbie Sol Ruca thanking the fans and saying she’s a fighting champion. Let’s hope she has a good run with the title.
Reigns, Jey, and Jimmy watch a clip of Reigns and Cody Rhodes staring at each other backstage after Clash in Italy. Reigns tells Jey he needs to give Fatu tough love, then tells Jey to go win the King of the Ring tournament to hold the other WWE Title while reminding Jey there are two ends on the table. Jey leaves and Jimmy starts to go with him. Reigns tells Jimmy to stay back.
ANALYSIS: This likely continues the Fatu storyline which I don’t mind at all. Keeps the friction going.
Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee make their entrance for tag team action. Then Ethan Page and Rusev came out. This was likely during a commercial.
Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee vs Rusev & Ethan Page
Typical heel action isolating the babyface and preventing Lee from getting to Mysterio. Eventually, Lee gets the hot tag as the fans go nuts as Mysterio takes control. All four men are at it, but the legal man Mysterio hits the 6-1-9 on Page to cheers and then a splash for the win.
WINNERS: Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee (12 minutes)
ANALYSIS: *** ½ by TJR
It was your typical, entertaining, textbook-style tag team match which the fans were hot for. The heels played their part perfectly, isolating Rey-Rey’s partner until the red-hot tag. High-flying action at the end until Rey got the win. I think this keeps preparing him for his IC title shot against Penta.
Next, we head to RAW GM Adam Pearce where he’s speaking with the IC Champion, Penta, saying Rey Mysterio wanted that shot at the IC Title. Penta liked that. Pearce said he’ll make it happen as Penta left and LA Knight entered. Knight complained that The Bloodline was back running things again and Pearce talking to Reigns in the locker room last week. Pearce said that he’s trying to keep family in line, but suddenly Knight saw Pearce’s hand pointing as if he was doing the “1-s” salute. Knight said Pearce makes him sick.
ANALYSIS: I can’t wait for Penta vs Rey Mysterio for the IC Championship. Hopefully it happens at a PLE or SNME. As for LA Knight, I’m not too sure. Almost as if he’s expecting someone in the new Bloodline to cause him to lose in the KOTR tourney.
The Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh were interviewed by Byron Saxton, who mentioned Finn Balor was traded to SmackDown. JD said Finn won’t be missed while Dominik said he was the next KOTR. That got major heat from the crowd.
ANALYSIS: G’luck on Smackdown, Finn. Even though he’s on the opposite side of the brackets it’s still possible “Dirty” Dom and Finn could clash.
Highlights of the Mask vs. Mask match between El Grande Americano and Original El Grande Americano at the AAA Noche de Los Grandes from last Saturday are shown. The Original El Grande Americano lost and it was Chad Gable. He thanked his family as the fans cheered him out of respect. Gable gave El Grande Americano his mask after the match.
Time for the Women’s QOTR tournament match. Iyo Sky was out first. They went to commercial as Giulia, Roxanne Perez, and Lash Legend made entrances.
Here’s the Women’s Queen Of The Ring bracket:
Queen of the Ring Qualifying Match: Iyo Sky vs Giulia vs Roxanne Perez vs Lash Legend
The finish came close when Legend performed some power moves on the three other women. Legend hit a double powerbomb out of the corner on both Giulia and Perez who were on the top rope. Legend hits Lash Extension on Perez and then on Giulia and covers Giulia, but Sky comes off the top rope and breaks the pin. Sky hits her moonsault on Giulia and gets the win.
WINNER: Iyo Sky (11 minutes)
ANALYSIS: *** ½ by TJR
Another great hot fatal four-way match with each woman getting their spots in and showing off. Let’s hope these qualifying matches set the standard high for the other two. I figured it would be Sky who would win.
We now go back to Raw GM Adam Pearce backstage with Maxxine Dupri. Dupri complained about not being put in the tourney, saying she was overlooked again. Pearce leaves and Dupri is left with Otis and Akira Tozawa. Otis said he noticed she was hanging out with Austin Theory. Dupri tells them to trust her.
ANALYSIS: Do I detect a Dupri heel turn joining the Vision? Only time will tell.
A package aired about Danhausen cursing the New York Knicks in the NBA Playoffs, but then he uncursed them and the Knicks are now in the finals.
ANALYSIS: It’s been almost 30 years since the Knicks last were in the NBA finals, and over 50 years since they’ve won the NBA finals. Go Danhausen. Maybe I should hire Danhausen’s services to uncurse the Phoenix Suns. We’ve sucked ever since Charles Barkley and Dan Majerle left us, and we’ve never had a finals victory.
Cathy Kelley talks to Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, asking them what happens if they must battle each other in the QOTR tourney. Valkyria leaves and talks to IC Champ Sol Ruca. Valkyria says she’s happy Ruca dethroned Lynch and now she can challenge her for the title. Sol said she’d like that. Bayley reminds Valkyria they were mid interview. Bayley walks back to Valkyria as she gets excited about a potential IC title match and leaves Bayley hanging.
We were shown the next bracket for the KOTR and QOTR on next week’s RAW:
King of the Ring Tournament: Seth Rollins vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Ricky Saints vs. Talla Tonga
Queen of the Ring Tournament: Becky Lynch vs. Liv Morgan vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Chelsea Green
ANALYSIS: My picks are Rollins and Lynch. Imagine a husband and wife King and Queen. But I could see Evans and Morgan being put over.
In the Judgment day clubhouse, Perez freaks out about losing her match. Morgan comes in all excited and Rodriguez tells Morgan to chill. Morgan tells Perez she and “Dirty” Dom will be the Queen and King of the ring. Rodriguez gets slightly annoyed and Morgan tells her she can win too. Morgan tells everyone that they need to celebrate.
ANALYSIS: Descension in the ranks.
Seth Rollins made his entrance for the main event as the hot Turin crowd loudly sang along all the way through the break. Bron Breakker made his entrance as a Tag Team Champion alongside Paul Heyman. Breakker was wearing the title because he now teams with Austin Theory.
Seth Rollins vs Bron Breakker w/Paul Heyman
A lot of back-and-forth fast paced action. Midway through, Heyman went on the apron to distract the ref, so Theory hit Rollins with the title belt to the head. Montez Ford showed up and jumped over the turnbuckle with a somersault onto Theory on the floor. Later, Rollins successfully hits a stomp and covers Breakker but Heyman puts his foot on the ropes. Heyman gets in Rollins’ face as he comes out after Heyman. Breakker runs around the ring and goes to spear Rollins, but Rollins ducks away and Breakker spears Heyman through the barricade! Breakker gets back in the ring and goes to spear Rollins, but Rollins was holding the tag title around his waist while the ref was checking on Heyman and Breakker’s head collides with the title. Rollins hits a stomp and gets the win.
WINNER: Seth Rollins (23 minutes)
ANALYSIS: **** ¼ by TJR
An awesome match by two of the best competitors on RAW. I expected their collision to live up to the hype, and it certainly did. Lots of fun spots, cheating tactics here and there, Ford comes in for the save, plus Heyman taking a major bump being the best spot of the night. It was said this felt more like a PLE main event and should’ve been at Clash in Italy. I would agree.
After the match, Seth Rollins pointed to Ford at ringside, thanking him for his help. Rollins celebrated the win some more as we fade to black.
WWE will be finishing up their European Tour on Friday with a bunch of bologna. No really, we’re having SmackDown at the Unipol Arena in Bologna, Italy. Until next time, don’t forget the mayo and rye, and see y’all down the BLVD!
